We had a terrific experience at this hotel. While we were at our Airbnb, trying to check in, they canceled on us and claimed there was a water issue at the apartment. Frustrated, we found the Aurea hotel and talked to Joana, who was an incredible help to us. She got us some rooms, even with a water view and patio, at such late notice and took complete care of us during the check in. The rest of the staff was also very nice and the Roman ruins were a very fun tour that came as a bonus to the typical hotel experience. I would definitely stay again if I had the chance.

How is this not a 5 star hotel. Let me count the ways. It does have some services we didn’t need like a small pool for 25 euros for 30 minutes but the hotel is rather basic. The reception was extremely unhelpful. We asked for coffee pods and were told those were only offered first day as a welcome drink! We were paying over 330$ a night and they didn’t offer a coffee! There was no outlet in the bathroom for a hairdryer or razer. No vanity items for women. No attempt to help either early checkin absolute refusal to offer a cork screw. Only tiny 3 oz glasses in the room. Would never return

Check in was smooth - but hotel is very sub standard for the price and security is extremely questionable. Receptionist tried dismissing my complaints when I told her my $500 Bose headphones were missing. Upon our return home, my adult daughter’s 9ct gold earrings and a new top were also missing as well as some of my Chanel makeup. I was appalled by the staff reaction to my complaint and was lied to when I asked to speak to the manager. I was told he was not at the premises and when I said “I am not going anywhere until he returns”, she walked across the room to the manager to speak with him who in turn spoke to me. I had to lodge a police report for insurance purposes. This hotel was so disappointing - do not risk it and stay here and if you do, lock everything away! I did not receive an apology at the time, nor a follow up email of apology or update on investigation - nothing! Find another hotel - this one is very ‘dodgy’ and ‘unreliable’. In my 35 years of travel - this has been the worst experience.

Great hotel for a vacation in Lisbon. It is a very quiet hotel, great for being exhausted after walking. It is centrally located near public transit. It was one of the larger rooms we’ve had in Europe. And the breakfast buffet is excellent. It will keep you going through dinner.

We enjoyed our stay here all round. The reception team were helpful, knowledgeable and had lovely sense of humour. The room was cosy with a view across to the river. We ate breakfast twice and the selection was great. The spa had sauna, steam room, pool plus ice! The museum tour is a must do. So much history properly on the door step! The availability of pastel de natas was a welcome treat!
